Autumn Inspiration

With the change of seasons and summer long since forgotten, I find myself immersed in a myriad of colors & my thoughts kick into overdrive. The air is crisp and clean and the smell of fresh pine and wood stoves permeates my senses. This in turn conjures thoughts of Halloween decorations, pumpkin pie, apple cider, hot chocolate and the warmest of blankets. Combined, they form a comfort zone I am eager to enter. Within this haven, inspiration awakens and creativity finds voice.

Unencumbered by censorship, my imagination explores, enhances & manifests itself upon each waiting surface. These are the times when the entire world seems vibrant and alive. These are the moments when my purpose seems clear and certain.

But when the rain comes, followed by ruthless winds and bitter cold snow it distracts me from the simple beauty that first inspired me. And sometimes I lose sight of the wonderful things that compel me to create. When this happens, I need to focus my attention on all of the little things that generate such joy and gratitude in my life. Although it is a far from easy task, I have discovered that it is definitely worth the effort.

When I remember to smile on the dark and lonely days, to learn to appreciate the beauty in all things and all seasons, the magnitude of what comes back to me is infinitely greater than anything I might have imagined. Consequently, inspiration reawakens and creativity is unleashed again….
